I'd try to dissolve to plastic using some sort of solvent.
Try petrol (gasoline in the USA).
Or cellulose thinners.
Try tar spot remover.
It worked for me when I melted my waterproof trousers on the exhaust when filling up with fuel. Now I'm in the habbit of always standing on the left side of the bike at the fuel station.
